It’s been 5 years since the first post welcoming women to shelearnshere.com and to learning business and digital skills!
We are Celebrating SLH at 5 and sharing our next steps with you.
Within the past 5 years, She Learns Here has moved from being just a blog to a registered nonprofit organization that trains and supports women and young people to improve their lives and businesses using digital skills and technology.
We have organized and collaborated on 37 training programs (online and in-person), trained 2000+ women, girls, and youth, and reached over 8000 people teaching skills such as Business and IT using the UNIDO HP Life model, graphic design, animation, Website design, social media management, photography, video editing, photo editing, social ads, and so on.
We have also collaborated with two other organizations, MAYEIN and Lyolan Concepts to organize 2 events for girls in Secondary schools to Advocate for more girls in tech (2019, 2021).
The next 5 years will see She Learns Here Initiative for skills empowerment establish digital skill hubs across selected cities in Nigeria, starting from Ibadan, resurrecting the frequency and efficiency of our blog, and starting an online digital skills training platform as well as a business listing site.
The hubs have become expedient due to our experiences with women and young people who do not have the resources to practice what they learn at our training programs making it difficult for them to get better and get good-paying jobs. Having access to computers, the internet, and other equipment, and access to a network of like-minded people will help learners grow faster.
The hubs will also serve as co-working spaces for those who get remote jobs after their training program
As we are Celebrating SLH at 5, we need all hands on deck to help us achieve our goals for the next 5 years!
