3 tips for female entrepreneurs by Latasha Ngwube @Latashalagos

Latasha Ngwube is an entrepreneur and media girl who has worked with Thisday style, Vanguard Allure magazine. She is a fashion mogul, stylist,  writer, CEO of About that curvy life and also the host of the show “Hot topics with latasha” which airs on LindaIkeji TV. I asked Latasha to share 3 tips for female entrepreneurs in Nigeria with me and this is what she had to say:

(I) know your business/products/craft like the back of your hands. Study every inch of it even the technical bits and/or have a working understanding. Should you be faced with an emergency you need to rise to the occasion like a godamn phoenix and save the day like the true superwomen we are!

(ii) Legalise everything! Don’t take someone at their word. It means nothing at the end of the day and cannot stand up in court. NDAs, non-compete clauses, MOUs, trademarks, registrations etc. Geek out and get it all done! It will save you. Please take this from someone who has been burned badly. People will forget but what’s signed is sealed.

(iii) Understand your brand and stay consistent to its values. Focus on what you aim to deliver. Don’t get distracted by what others are doing. As women we tend have this “I can do that too” spirit and while that’s great it can backfire when you’re starting a business. I’ve learned some really useful and insightful things from @poizeinsider so look her up if you can. You will thank me.

I hope you find these tips useful.
