International Day of Women and Girls in STEM 2019

11th of February every year is set aside as the International Day of Women and Girls in STEM. This year, we collaborated with MAYEIN, (an NGO which provides support, skills, policy advocacy, mentoring and more to youths) to host a workshop on Digital skills for Girls from 10 invited schools in Ibadan.

The event started with a keynote address by Olubunmi Fajuyigbe, the Initiator of She Learns Here. She encouraged the girls to be bold, own their achievements and not allow others take credit for their work.

She took them through a practical session on Digital graphics design using the Canva app at the end of which the girls were able to design e-magazines on their phones.

We also had a panel of 6 women doing wonderful things in STEM fields on a panel. They answered questions from the moderator as well as questions from the girls.

The vote of thanks was given by the director of the American corner, Ibadan.

It was a highly successful event and we hope to have more of such collaborations this year.

If you would like to sponsor our upcoming UNIDO HP-LIFE entrepreneurship training for women in Ibadan, Kindly send an email to hello@shelearnshere.com and we will respond as soon as possible.

Here are a few pictures from the event.
